Jay Smooth and Jeannie Hopper both left WBAI last week following the station management’s handling of the hiring of Leonard Lopate, who was fired from WNYC following allegations of “inappropriate conduct.”

Hopper hosted the dance music show, "Liquid Sound Lounge," for 25 years. Jay Smooth was the founder of New York City’s longest running hip hop radio program, "Underground Railroad," and had been at the station since 1989. Today, they joined The Takeaway to discuss leaving WBAI.

We reached out to WBAI management for comment, we've received no response at this time.
